My friend Elmer
On March 1st, 2008 I lost a real good friend: E. Phillip Schacht.
Phil was one of the best guys you could have known. He taught me a lot about aerobatic competition and formation flying, something he really loved to do.
The memory that is forever burned into my mind is looking over my right shoulder and seeing that dark blue Pitts S1S tucked right in beside me.
Phil did a lot with under-privileged kids, being their mentor and getting them exposed to aviation.
I’ll miss him.
